Lub-rref (BD) Ltd, a Chittagong based company has signed a deal with USA based Chemical Engineering Partners (CEP) to build a lube based oil refinery, first of its kind in the country.
Mohammad Yousuf, Managing Director, Lub-rref (BD) Ltd and Joshua Park, President, Chemical Engineering Partners (CEP), California, USA signed the deal on behalf of their respective companies in the city on Thursday.
The lube based oil refinery and a oil terminal would be build in Karnaphuli area of Chittagong.
Mohammad Yousuf, after signing the deal expressed his excitement to bringing this high-tech green technology to Bangladesh and said, "We are proud to the environment protection of Bangladesh through used oil and refinery by product treatment at the same time contributing to the industrialization and modernization with production of API Group II base oil."
However, CEP is regarded as the global leader in the re-refining technology. CEP's refining process is environmental friendly that its process not only 'regenerates' the used oil and other refinery by products but also reduces the overall CO2 emission.

BNO got massive response in Indo-Bangla trade fair 2017
The fourth Indo-Bangla trade fair held at Dhaka on Thursday in an effort "to strengthen the business ties" between the countries.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed inaugurated the three-day showcase at the Pan Pacific Sonargoan Hotel, organized by the India-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IBCCI).
The fair had already become "a landmark event" for the bilateral business relation between the neighbors, IBCCI CEO Jahangir Bin Alam said at a press briefing on Tuesday.
More than 3O companies related to automobile, processed food, banking, insurance, home appliances, consumer goods, power, paints, electronics and electrical, textiles, cement manufacturing, and lubricants manufacturing sector exhibited their products and services in six pavilions and 3O stalls.
BNO brand by Lub-rref (Bangladesh) Ltd. marketing, an ISO certified company in the field of lubricants and greases, were also present as one of the key participant on the fair.
Shishir Kothari, a second secretary of the Indian high commission that is supporting the event, was also present at the press briefing.
Bangladesh and India two-way trade was $6.14 billion in 2015-16, though heavily tilted towards India.
Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Harsh Vardhan Shringla recently at an event said companies from both India and Bangladesh are also exploring "new opportunities" for investing and setting up joint ventures in each other's country.
The IBCCI says the objective behind organising this "multiproduct fair is to develop business activities between the two neighbouring countries".

Collective Bargaining Policy

The management of Lub-rref (Bangladesh) Limited believes that all employees are important stakeholders in the enterprise and it is very important to build a traditions of mutual trust and respect, interdependence and meaningful engagement. This approach helps in building, strengthening and sustaining harmonious employee relations within the organization.
Lub-rref (Bangladesh) Limited have adopted a policy as per Bangladesh Labor Law, 2006 (amended rules till to date) Rule 205, Bangladesh Labor Rules/2015- Claws#183 to
  • Respect the dignity of the individual and the freedom of employees to lawfully organize themselves into interest groups, independent of supervision by the management;
  • Ensure that employees are not discriminated against for exercising this freedom in a lawful manner.
Thus, the Management of Lub-rref (Bangladesh) Ltd. is committed to provide all technical support to implement & maintain the system within the organization. In addition, the Management has decided to undertake the following steps as well:
  • This strategy is communicated to all employees in an appropriate and meaningful manner.
  • Company has appropriate systems and processes in place to ensure compliance with the Policy and with statutory provisions, including processing of grievances for redressal. Unit Chief Executives, through members of the respective Management Committees, will ensure implementation of this Policy.
  • Compliance with the Policy will be regularly monitored and evaluated by the Sustainability Compliance Review Committee (SCRC) of the Corporate Management Committee (CMC). The CSR & Sustainability Committee of the Board will supervise the implementation of this Policy.

Environmental Management System

The management of Lub-rref (Bangladesh) Limited has taken an initiative to continuously improve the environmental aspects arising from a company’s activities and to guarantee legal compliance. The system is documented in an environmental management system manual, which includes the environmental policy, the environmental objectives and the planning process. In addition, the environmental management system (EMS) and focuses on the following aspects:
  • Internal organization of an environmental management system and tasks at all management levels as well as control of processes with environmental impacts;
  • Control, corrective and preventive measures;
  • Environmental management system documentation.
The Management is committed to provide sufficient resources to guarantee the implementation and maintenance of the environmental management system and to achieve the company’s objectives.
In this regard, the Management has appointed a team who are responsible for monitoring the environmental issues. Moreover, consideration of aspects which are connected to the company’s products, services and activities, such as
  • Production processes;
  • Packaging and transport;
  • Environmental aspects and practices of suppliers and contractors;
  • Restrict production, sale, use and disposal of products which are no longer in use.
  • to appoint appropriate auditor for periodical assessment of environmental issue with the aim of obtaining a EMS certification -ISO 14000.
Later on the authority of this management representative has to be documented to:
  • Ensure the implementation and maintenance of the environmental management system;
  • Ensure that the performance, evaluation and necessary measures for improvement of the environmental management system are reported to the company’s management.

Health and Safety Policy

The management of Lub-rref (Bangladesh) Limited has identified the hazards and risks associated with those hazards in the plant to provide proper health and safety of its employees and the process.
The objective of the company is to ensure a healthy environment for secured work of its employees by gradual improvement of health and safety requirements and through effective implementation of this policy within the organization.
To achieve these objective, the Management of Lub-rref (Bangladesh) Ltd. has decided to undertake the following steps:
  1. To create awareness among all the employees regarding health and safety.
  2. To arrange in-house and external training for effective implementation of Health and Safety policy within the company.
  3. To keep risks and accidental events within zero percent.
  4. To adopt Health Safety Management System within the organization.
  5. To obtain multipurpose Health Insurance Policy covering the risk of Hospitalization, partial and full disability and accidental death for all level of officer and staff of the company.
All the staffs and employees of Lub-rref (Bangladesh) Ltd. are being advised to actively involve for the effective implementation of the Health and Safety Management System within the organization.
The Management is committed to provide all financial and technical support to implement & maintain the system within the organization and to achieve the company’s objectives.

Health and Safety Management System and Training

The management of Lub-rref (Bangladesh) Limited has a set of plans, actions and procedures to systematically manage health and safety in the workplace that is actively endorsed by a committed employer to achieve
  • Provision of a safe and health workplace and the prevention/reduction of illness and injury equally for employees and contractors.
  • Identification of workplace hazards, assessment and control of all risks.
  • Active involvement in health and safety matters by managers, supervisors and employees and their representatives.
  • Provision of information and training for employees at all levels so they can work safely.
  • Audit and review of the Health and Safety Management System.
As a part of routine activity a training on “Health and Fire Safety” was conducted in the company 0n 26-07-2016. Almost all concerned of Lub-rref (Bangladesh) Ltd. including GM, Laboratory and R&D, Head of Operation and Maintenance, Head of Production, Laboratory, security and other departmental head/representative were attended the training.
Mr. Mohammed Abdul Mannan, Inspector, Bangladesh Fire Service & Civil Defense provided the training. The training covered both theoretical and practical aspect of fire and safety issue.

As a part of corporate social responsibilities (CSR), Lub-rref (Bangladesh) Ltd. involved in the following activities.

With the aim of serving the community, Mr. Mohammed Yousuf, the Managing Director of Lub-rref(Bangladesh) Ltd. got himself involved in so many socio-cultural and philanthropic activities since the beginning of his business career. He opened the door of private sector lubricants business in Bangladesh. Mr. Yousuf has been working to uplift the underprivileged communities through help and patronizing Underprivileged Children’s Education Programs (UCEP) for more than a decade. He also served as a Chairman of Employer Association of UCEP, Ambagan, Chittagong.

In order to raise consciousness about clean and healthy environment, Lub-rref arranged several mass awareness seminar on environmental cleaning and participated regularly in environment cleaning operations which was organized by BISIC, Chittagong. Lub-rref is always aware of environmental compliance and adopts policy to preserve the environment by practically minimizing emission and waste.

Therefore, Lub-rref supports national sports and arrange cultural program to encourage the youth of our nation to be dynamic and participate at international level. Likewise, Lub-rref(Bangladesh) Ltd. family organized a rally to celebrate welcome rally for T-20 World Cup Cricket in 2015.

Effective waste oil management fits perfectly to CSR. It reduces the impact on the environment. Additionally, it contributes to job creation and development of a green economy. Lub-rref is working towards recycling of used oil and waste oil management to save the environment from air, soil and water pollution.

The Lub-rref(Bangladesh) Ltd., gives special attention to education by offering Industrial Training for Graduate and postgraduate students. Emphasizing its commitment to support education in Bangladesh, the Lub-rref encouraged collaboration research with different university level as well.

To influence young researcher in petroleum & mining field and perform research that enhances the state-of-the-art in petroleum & mining technology, Lub-rref donated funds to Department of Petroleum and Mining Engineering, Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST). An important seminar was held on “Prospect of Petroleum and Mining Engineering in Power and Energy Sector in Bangladesh” where Mr Nasrul Hamid, the Honorable State Minister of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources was the Chief Guest. Dr. Khandaker Jakir Hossain, the General Manager, Lub-rref(Bangladesh) Ltd. represented the company.

Dr. Khandaker Jakir Hossain represented Lub-rref (Bangladesh) Ltd, attended the seminar, fresher’s prize giving ceremony and gave speech to extend cooperation for the development of competent engineers in the country at Jessore University of Science and Technology in April 2016

In order to develop technical knowledge and skills Lub-rref (Bangladesh) Ltd. conducted training courses to hundreds of students of different universities like University of Chittagong, Kushtia Islamic University etc. in “Lubricants Basics and Lubricants Testing”.

University Students received training on Lubricants and Lab testing from Lub-rref(Bangladesh).

The Lub-rref(Bangladesh) Ltd. also provided Practical Training to 160 number of cadets of Bangladesh Marine Academy especially on “selection, application, and quality testing of Lubricants and greases in the marine segment.

Besides, Lub-rref(Bangladesh) Ltd. provides important seminars on selection of lubricants, used oil management for public awareness.

The system will ensure door to door oil supply service at customers call.
